Sculpture in Anglia Exhibitions 1975 and 1978 organised by Bernard Reynolds for sculptors with an East Anglian connection. Exhibiting sculptors included Eduardo Paolozzi, Elizabeth Frink, Bernard Meadows, Geoffrey Clarke, Catharni Stern and John Doubleday. Corn Exchange Ipswich and Christchurch Mansion Ipswich.

Trained and employed in printing/allied activities.

1978-1990 Freelance in Graphic Design and Photography working for local and national companies including Unilever, Booker, Falmer Jeans, Royal Yachting Association, Thompson and Morgan Seeds, Tolly Cobbold Brewery - produced print, photography, advertising and audio visual media.

Teaching

1980/82 Norwich Art School Part time Lecturer Graphic Design and Typography on Degree Course.

1983/86 Ipswich Art School Part time Lecturer in both Graphic Design and Foundation Studies.

1990/97 Vocational Trainer HM Prison Service - Printing and Desktop Publishing.

1966 City and Guilds Final Certificate in Printing

1993 City and Guilds Further and Adult Teacher's Cert

1994 UEA Post Graduate Certificate in Education

1996 AEB Certificate in Counselling Skills

1998 Attended part of Masters Degree in Visual Practice and Context but did not complete through illness.

Other studies

Attended short courses in Intaglio printmaking, silversmithing including small scale casting techniques, use of precious metal clay for silver jewellery experiments, fused glass methods, a photography course at University of Westminster Harrow Campus amongst many.

1970's had part-time ceramics studio.

Three day introductory course in woodturning at Peter Childs.

Largely self-educated in painting and sculpture and craft.

Awards

2003 Tony Boase Scholarship Award to set up a web site providing free woodturning design tutorials and information.

Post employment activity

1997 Retired from HM Prison Service due to ill health.

1997-2001 Returned to art and then craft as part of a formal therapeutic process to help deal with the effects of post-traumatic stress disorder.

2001 built and set up a studio to pursue experimental work including woodturning.

As part of an information process use a Blog to describe working methods and ideas.

Recent work is not exhibited or shown other than via the Internet and there is tendency to destroy unwanted pieces when there is an accumulation.

Use mixed materials in conjunction with wood.

Current activity

Producing a more art inspired body of work investigating bowl, hollow and sculptural forms using fractal software and other computer based methods of research combined with conventional sources of reference.
